5 Card Draw Poker is one of the first variants of poker to ever be played. Many people played this version of poker at home before Casinos or online poker rooms ever existed. Rules for 5 Card Draw Poker
The game begins with each player putting an initial bet in the pot, know as an ante. Next, every player is dealt 5 cards face down. The contestant sitting to the dealer's left starts the first round of betting. Every player takes turns betting and can choose to either check, raise, or fold their card.
Once the first round of betting is over, all the players have the option of getting rid of up to 5 of their cards. If a player chooses to discard any of his/her cards they will receive new ones in exchange. Players are allowed to keep all of their original cards. This is referred to as "staying".
A player will change their cards based on the cards that they are holding. For example, if a player is holding in their hand two queens and two 5s and their fifth card is a four they might trade in one card in hope of obtaining a queen or a 5 and getting a full house.
After all the players decided whether to exchange cards or stay, the second betting round begins. This is the final betting round. Once this round is over, there is a showdown in which all remaining players reveal their cards. The contestant who has the best ranked 5 card hand wins the game. If two players have the same hand, they split the pot equally.
