Poker: There are a number of glossary of poker
terms that are important to learn in order to become an expert at playing
poker online for real money. The button is a checker passed around clockwise
after each hand symbolizing the dealer. This is important because the betting
always starts from the player to the right of the dealer. In a casino and online
the one who deals the cards is not one of the players however the button is used
in order to keep track of the betting order. Another important terminology is
the small and big blinds. In all three variations of poker a small and big blind
are placed on the table before the betting begins. The small and big blind are
pre-determined by the table where the small blind is an amount of money and the
big blind is twice that amount. For example if the small blind is $1 then the
big blind is $2. The player to the right of the dealer is small blind and to the
small's right is the big blind. If the rest of the players in the hand want to
stay in the hand they have to match the big blind.
The following is a list of the most common words and phrases at
the poker table:

Check- No bet has been made and the player does not want to bet
or fold.

Raise-A bet has been made and the player wants to raise the bet
to a higher amount.

Call-A bet has been made and the player bets the amount bet by
his opponent.

Fold- A player decides not to bet and forfeit any previous money
bet to the pot and is no longer part of the hand.

Flop-The first three community cards.

Turn- The fourth community card.

River-The fifth community card.
