In a case that a player has a hand that, in their opinion, only needs one more card to win then they may double down, which is to double their bet, and will receive only one more card. If a player has two cards that are of the same number or symbol (two 9's or two Kings) then the player has the option to split his cards and play two separate hands with each card. In a case that the player has two cards that equal 21 or a natural 21, then the players win their bet plus a half or the ratio of 3:2. (Every casino can have a different ratio for a natural 21 win, however usually it 3:2).
The dealer who has one card face up and one facedown flips his or her cards after all players at the table have finished their turns. If the dealer has 16 or less they must hit even if all the other players at the table have less than the dealer. If the dealer has 17 or more they stay at the number. Once the dealer has obtained 17 or over, their hand is compared to the players and the winners get their winnings and the losers forfeit their bets. Every casino is different when it comes to a soft 17 which is Ace and a 6 or an Ace, 2, and 4, because in blackjack an Ace can have the value of 1 or 11. Some casinos will say that the dealer has to hit on a soft 17 and some will have a rule that the dealer must stay. It is important to check the rules of the blackjack online site you are playing on.
